After years of uniformed service, attaining the Rank of General of the Army (5 stars which technically cannot be retired), one would think such a contribution to his Country would be sufficient. But, Eisenhower became aware of the Draft Ike for President and seeing the public reaction, the former General decided he could become Supreme Commander for the Nation. A requirement of his campaign would be a visit to Korea, still gripped by hostilities in the on-going Korean War. So, President Eisenhower went to Korea.
