Clarification might be in order. Cordell Hull was Secretary of State under FDR and it was he that received the Japanese "ultimatum" in essence declaring war but about an hour after the bombes started falling on Pearl Harbor. Once news of the attack was confirmed, Hull looked at the Japanese delegation, and visibly upset, ". . . fifty years of public service, never seen a document so laced with infamous falsehoods and distortions." The President was not being wholly honest the other night.


The President's State of the Union has been dissected by everything but forceps by this point so no need to elaborate further only suffice it to it was, as Secretary Hull would have placed it, "laced with infamous falsehoods and distortions." But what of the Vice President ? Ms. Harris sat to the President's right rear and perhaps seeing herself in due course at that Podium and giving her own State of the Union as President in her own right.


That being said, however. the only one in the Biden Administration less effective than the President would be the Vice President. Ms. Harris has ignored her charge of the border but since it has never been policy to secure the border, there was never anything to the VEEP to do. Like sending Fredo to Vegas to learn the casino business. There then are two open questions. Will Biden be able to finish this term and at what point might Harris succeed him.


There is that proportion of Democrats that do in fact not wish Biden to seek another term for a variety of reasons. Harris is next in line as the "designated" successor but that is like reading a will where a family gathers to hear who might get what, only to find that the entire fortune had been left to the cat,

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel. In California, the new $20/HR minimum wage is wreaking havoc on the fast food industry. And finally, after depleting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, oil has now become too expensive. How many times must the Biden Administration think it can influence Israeli affairs ? How many times must Israel ignore it.
