(DER FALL FELDENSTEIN (The Feldenstein Case)

It has been useful, over the years to reference the Stanley Kramer classic, Judgement at Nuremburg. Central to the plot was the trial of a Jewish merchant and building owner, who might have had an affair with someone non-Jewish (Judy Garland in the movie) in violation of the so-called Nuremburg Laws. The Judge in the case was Hans Yanning (Burt Lancaster). The trial was a mockery, evidence of exoneration was not presented, and witnesses were bullied. Feldenstein was found guilty and sentenced to death. What was revealed at the end of the film was that the Jews' fate had already been sealed. The old story that the trial was less a trial and more a sacrificial ritual.


Former President Donald Trump could be indicted tomorrow. The New York D.A. Alvin Brag is bringing a case that most legal experts say is weak. That is irrelevant. Like Feldenstein's Trump's verdict has already been decided. It is true that Brag has ready access to seating a Big Apple jury, who would at least refer charges.


Crime in New York City is rampant and Brag, funded by George Soros, has become the poster child of the city's out of control crime. But Brag cannot be bothered by that. He now has the opportunity to make his own run at Trump, his contribution to the anti-Trump crusade. Now there might not be the theatrics of the perp walk mentioned the other day but the exercise should be spectacle enough.


What will the response be ? In spite pf everything, Trump still has his acolytes. Collectively, they have been encouraged to not protest and that would be sound advice. There is nothing to be done to begin with. What one can certain is that Trump will be taking advantage of the publicity.


That might be so, but his fate is sealed. Brag as crossed his own Rubicon and he has no path of retreat without his Office losing all credibility. The New York District Attorney needs Trump's scalp and if he does not get it ? If he loses on appeal ? Regardless of the legalistic deficiencies, the case might have, this is a prosecution that has to be pursued. Otherwise, Trump might get elected. . .again.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. (Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences.
