There was supposed to be much fanfare. Former President Donald Trump was supposed to be indicted today and hauled before a Grand Jury to be processed. Cuffs. fingerprints, mug-shots, Trump sent to Rikers in an orange jumpsuit. It would have been interesting to see Secret Service when Trump gets dropped into General Population.


Apparently, there was a big dissent in Grand Jury as to whether the whole episode should be continued. Any objective assessment would determine that Trump is facing weak charges and would fail on appeal. However, as has been the point all along, whatever charges that get leveled at the ex-President are not relevant. So, why was President Trump not arrested ? Clearly, someone blinked.


Some people are disappointed. Radical supporters of D.A. Bragg have been ready for Trump's final prosecution for years. However, perhaps the one most let down that the Gtand Jury is not proceeding would be the former President himself. Trump is determined to milk this publicity and it has been acknowledged that Trump would benefit, at least in the short term. In the running for the GOP Nomination Trump has seen an increase in his polling positions.


In all probability, however, any new-found support Trump might be garnering will not persist till Election Day, 2024. A Trump nomination all but guarantees a Biden win the current controversy notwithstanding. And, while the end result is already known, Trump can take some advantage over the situation. But the trigger needs to be pulled first.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
