What is it called in the DSM 4 ? This is a series of codes used by medical professionals to classify mental disorders. What is a code for compulsion ? Or obsession ? A syndrome where logic gets replaced with intense emotion and an inability to rationalize common sense. That is what happens with so-called climate ac activists. And it is what is happening with Donald Trump. Those suffering from these conditions have a fatal fixation where their only vision is a myopic view where no other options can be considered.

When President Biden was campaigning, he promised to end fossil fuels. People should have taken him at his word because there has been nothing else that has caused more damage to the economy than that singular action. But the President has been cancelling appliances as well on the same philosophy as the war on fossil fuels. It has also been gas stoves. It has been toilets. Dishwashers. Air conditioners. And everybody need to drive an electric car.

What has been lacking is broad public support. These mandates have been issued from the White House and the various environmental agencies and a slew of regulation that will make everything more expensive and, in many cases, non-compliant. Best case in point what these regulations are going New York City to close its thousands of pizzerias because wood ovens are set to be banned.  A thin slice of a Big Apple pizza is an institution but that does not seem to matte. History, tradition, all are sacrificed on the no alternative climate alarmists.

The biggest threat these people face would be the (re) election of Donald Trump. The latter is in court again, to answer charges, again, This time, the former President is being accused of what happened on January 6th. That date and the Capitol riot was not incited by Trump and there was no incitement to violently demonstrate. Of all the charges that have been brought against the ex-President these are the weakest.

In Trump's mind, he believes he actually won in 2020. A lot of people hold that opinion. It has been Trump expressing that opinion, as his right. Complaining that he is making those statements but knowing otherwise, are the basis for the indictments. Trump has received his third set of charges in less than four months. But the former President has been mis-handled.

So-called "Trump derangement syndrome" is a much a pathology as climate change obsession. There had been a point where the former President could have been discarded and that had been the opinion of these pages. But the more Donald Trump gets exposure, the more he is on television, the more he gets in front of an audience, and, by some miracle, he is made President, again, he will have to thank all those who worked so hard to prevent that very outcome.
