The term "Blarney," named for castle and stone, is a tourist attraction in Ireland. Happy St. Patrick's Day ! Local tradition has it that if one "kiss" the Blarney Stone, they would be instantly with "a gift of gab." A modern translation would be that one knows how (expletive deleted) people. Blarney is in fact the Irish term for (expletive deleted."


Today, one only watch the news to see all the blarney in view. Whether it is the new assessment of the events of January 6th, the continued of the Biden-Schumer response to the Israeli-Hamas War, or it is budget that the President sent to Congress, one way or another, it is all blarney (expletive deleted).


One is well aware of the events on that day in January, 2021. In the wake, of his loss, Donald Trump held a rally and "encouraged people to go to the Capitol and make their presence known. The demonstration, such as it was, was not an insurrection on the bidding of the out-going President. In any event, a whole set of post-event hearings were convened with (former Republicans) Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kitzinger (R-IL). It was a show trial and "evidence" was presented that Donald Trump in his Secret Service vehicle tried to lunge for the steering wheel to drive to the Capitol himself. That did not happen. What did happen. is that President, still at the time, offered to call up the National Guard to guard the proceedings, namely that the House was to certify the 2020 result for President-elect Joe Biden. As the January 6th Commitee released its findings, those "amendments" to the final report were omitted.


This morning on Fox News, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who basically told the President and Senator Schumer to go to Hell. Jerusalem was not going to hold elections per Schumer's suggestion. As mentioned, Biden appreciated the Majority Leader's speech but it was clear that the Israel was going to ignore these American "recommendations."


For all about its diminished numbers, the GOP "Majority" in the House of Representatives still controls the Power of the Purse." The President just released his seven trillion+ budget with lots of social spending, a five trillion dollar increase of taxes and a decreased Defense budget. The state of the world and it is behooving a decrease in Pentagon funding.


Needless to say, such a Budget would be "dead on arrival" in the House. Perhaps a note of bereavement could be included. But like everything else on this St. Patrick's Day, the whole process is as un-mitigated expression of (expletive deleted). In any event, there is a reason to celebrate Irish heritage and all the absurdity abounding. Like the revised January 6th testimony. Like the attempted interference in Israel's political process. Like the President's budget.


All this would make more sense if the Irish were aliens. Little Green Men, so to speak.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
