Last night was the State of the Union speech by President Biden. The first thing one can say is that he was able to make it through with no gaffes, save for mis-pronouncing the of Laken Riley, murdered by an illegal alien from Venezuela. It was evident that the President was on an amphetamine if some sort, if not a lot of coffee. Now, that being said, the President used the speech as a campaign commercial. That varies from what such grand Presidential speeches from the past but the address delivered last evening was the only speech that Biden would be able to give.


Invariably, there will differences of opinion as to Biden's performance. The President talked about Ukraine, what he opened with, took some credit for employment and inflation numbers as a sign of the success of Bidenomics, which no one is buying. He did mention the border but only in the context of the failed Senate immigration bill. Biden complained of "shrinkflation," how greedy companies would decrease the number of chips or cookies. A recent reference to the Cookie Monster and that relationship. Biden made his usual class warfare pitch when he said the corporate tax rate should be raised.  Pay the fair share refrain.


Former President Donald Trump was also in the room but President Biden never mentioned him by name. It was always "My Predecessor," and it was Trump that got Biden's venom. The President was also loud. He wanted to demonstrate that he was still vigorous. But the Democrats all but booed when the President said that nursing student Miss Laken Riley, who he called "Lincoln," was murdered by in illegal alien. Also, the President took the opportunity to lambast the Justices of the Supreme Court, while they were in the audience.


So, what is the conclusion ? As one can guess, this was not to be a unifying" address, The whole night were applause lines from Democrats form Democrats and cringes from Republicans. Speaker Johnson, seated behind the President, could be seen grimacing as Biden talked. What then will be the effect of this State of the Union have on the campaign ? Time will tell. At least, the President made it through. And, that is the least.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences.
