There is a broader context to Biden's State of the Union from the other night. His delay at arriving on Capitol Hill was caused by a pro-Palestinian protest. It was mentioned that Biden got the name of murdered nursing student Laken Riley wrong and the Gold Star father who heckled the President was placed under arrest. But this State of the Union was not designed to accomplish any other such address. The President has been hearing whispers that there is an effort in some quarters to replace him on the ticket. In other words, the "Speech" was an audition in front of the Democrat Congressional Delegation to demonstrate his continued capacity to remain Commander in Chief and seek a successful re-election.


But last Thursday night was last Thursday night. Whatever they gave him, it apparently had worn off by Friday. He was able to reiterate his agenda about protecting abortion rights. gun control. and pitch Bidenomics, where the President was seen as exaggerating the record. That being said, one night of performance, or the lack of any serious gaffe, he seemed confused when he asked a crowd in a Pennsylvania to "send him to Congress." One thought he was President.


The President is not able to maintain consistent composure. Day-to-day, as he attempts public events, is a day-to-day risk that he could be compromised in some fashion. Over time and as these events accumulate, President Biden as a candidate will increasingly become less viable. And so, plays out a drama of how to move Biden aside without the destruction of the Democrat Party.


Waiting in the wings, however, is Donald Trump. That is the real target for Democrats because a renewed Trump Presidency will prove the anti-thesis to that of Joe Biden. But if the President remains frail, if he cannot face Trump in a debate, then a marked lack of confidence in the President will invariably accumulate.


If not President Biden, then who ?  If not Vice President Harris, then who ? If there is to be a replacement ticket ? Newsome from California and Whitmer from Michigan ? First, could they beat Trump and second would the Party be able to rally ? What would truly be the lesser of two evils ?

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel. In California, the new $20/HR minimum wage is wreaking havoc on the fast food industry. And finally, after depleting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, oil has now become too expensive. How many times must the Biden Administration think it can influence Israeli affairs ? How many times must Israel ignore it.
