Today. Of ALL Days

(Today. Of ALL Days)

For this March 15th, the "Ides of March," this time, there is more than just the anniversary of the assassination of Julius Caesar, almost two thousand years ago. The Roman Proconsul, and General, conqueror of Gaul, defied Senate orders and took his Army south. He fought the first Roman civil war against Gaius Pompey, which he won. About to declare himself "Dictator for Life," Caesar was murdered by a conspiracy of Senators. who in 44 BCE, stabbed the would be dictator some 23 times.

The modern analog to Julius Caesar is of course Donald Trump. That would be in addition to Senator Sanders (D-VT) the Socialist from the Green Mountains, advocating for a 32-hour work week. Add to that the collapse of Haiti. Now, it is unlikely that Trump will be stabbed on the floor of the U.S. Senate (that would stain the carpet) but like the anti-Caesar cabal in 44.

In contrast to Caesar's fortune, the former President has received positive news on his legal front. In Fulton County, a judge has said that D,A. Willis can remain as chief Counsel against Trump but is with the condition that her "partner," Mr. Wade would need to be discarded. To re-set the case at this point would extend the interval to perhaps past the Election. The same situation is materializing with Alvin Bragg's case in New York. That case could also be delayed. In any event, the idea to have all these cases collectively deliver Trump convictions and subsequent incarceration of the former President, all before Election Day. With these delays, one can surmise that scenario is not likely.

There is an immutable truth about socialists. They cannot do math. That is why Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders thinks it is a good idea to reduce the common work week to just 32 hours, but no loss of pay. It's Mr. Sanders contention that there should be more acknowledgement of productivity gains over the last few years in order to balance business titans like Amazon's Jeff Bezos. A 32-hour at the same rate would devastate business. Labor costs would soar and business would suffer. But that would be the other immutable truth about socialists like Sanders. They hate business,

Finally, Haiti, which is the arm pit of the Carribean. It has just collapsed and a strong man nicknamed "Barbeque," because he "torches" his opponents. He himself is a former Port au-Prince cop. One can recall the reign of terror of the Duvalier family and the Tonton Macoute secret police. In any event, Florida Governor DeSantis, is taking steps to limit any surge of Hattians that could put to sea.

Julius Caesar was warned that misfortune would befall him on March 15th. He initially ignored the warning so when the conspirators struck, one can imagine the look on the "dictators" face !
