People are generally familiar with the Golden Rule: those with gold, rule. Similarly, there is something called Executive Privilege. "Executives" are get perks from the board room to the wash room. The question, however, is whether a President has absolute discretion when opposing an order from a Republican Congress ? Some background might be appropriate.


Some months ago, President Biden was interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Hur. This had been regarding Biden's own possession of un-secured classified materials. The President had committed statuary violations and that was revealed in the transcripts. Hur's conclusion, however was that Biden was an "elderly gentleman who had gaps in his memory. Hur refused to prosecute the Commander in Chief.


However, live testimony can be so much more effective than a transcript. Hur had recorded the conversation with the President and that is what had been sought by the House. The request had been made to Attorney Genral Merrick Garden, who refused. The information on that tape could be prejudicial towards Biden and Republicans to use it to embarrass Biden. If they did not, one could be disappointed.


But it was the heated exchange between fringe firebrands Congresswomen Cortez (D-NY) and Greene (R-GA). Greene had made an off color comment about the appearance of another Member to which Cortez angrily answered in defense of her colleague. Greene remained un-apologetic. In any event, when one gets beyond the "Real Housewives of Capitol Hill," there are serious issues that the episode raises.


The release of the audio could be damaging to the President. This an election year and Republicans will need every advantage. Prospective Nominee Trump is set to be convicted by the end of the week and Republicans will in all likelihood be in the Minority come 2025. In the meantime, the GOP will need every advantage and a feeble and frail sounding Joe Biden should amplify the effects.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
