Prime Garbage ?
(Prime Garbage ?)
In the movie Down & Out in Beverly Hills, starring Nick Nolte and Richard Dreyfus, Nolte plays a Beverly Hills bum who gets taken in by Dreyfus' family. Things did not quite work out Nolte went back to the street but he wanted to take the family dog, Nolte was rummaging through some trash and telling the dog this was "prime garbage." For his part, the dog changed his mind and went back to the Dreyfus family.
During the Trump event at Madison Square Garden, an opening act comedian made some remark disparaging Puerto Rico, calling it a "island of garbage." Naturally the media went to work, saying it could depress the Puerto Rican vote, especially in Pennsylvania. Then, the Island "Senator" came out and endorsed Trump. But it has been President Biden's comment that the only "garbage he sees" are Trump voters.
Reminiscent of Secretary Clinton's "basket of deplorables ?" Is the Biden remark that new standard ? Disparaging half the country is not necessarily good politics. Biden has reasons to be angry as he was tossed aside and the one who could succeed him and those that could put him back in the White House, promising to undo all he had done and the President has to watch, powerless to intervene. At that stage, anyone would lash out.
The timing, however, is un-fortunate. Only days before the Election, and Vice President Harris has to distance herself from Biden. She had to say he was wrong and she did not agree. Having to distance herself from the President at this time cannot help but interfere in her terminal phrase in the race. For his part. Donald Trump is making light of the situation, explaining to a rally that to be sure had been filled with Trump "garbage," that one should forgive Biden for "he knows not what he says."
So, Trump voters are garbage, Trump himself is either fascist, Hitler or both. He plans to open the equivalent of concentration camps, that he will use the Armed Services to pursue his rivals. And he will kill women. These are the argument being made to sway voters away from the former President by making him seem so scary that no one could risk voting for him. These are all figments of imagination. The ironic thing that the one who is promoting these fairy tales Vice President Harris, does not have one.
