(By The Numbers. . .)

Good morning and welcome to the inaugural issue of The (Daily) Vent.

That was fourteen years ago. January 15th, 2010 on a lark and a few shots of bourbon at the time, these Pages started as commentary on Current Affaires and Popular Culture. These Pages have seen Obama, then Trump, President Biden, and now Trump again. There have been wars and rumors of wars, political bloodbaths for both sides. In the end, it has been fun and one can only hope that this unique brand of humor (mine) that hopefully entertained as well as educate.

Numbers are a big part of what goes on here. This morning a tame inflation report is making Markets rally. Bond yields are retreating There is renewed optimism that there will be a Fed rate cut sooner rather than later. Of course, this turn of economic news has nothing to do with the departing President Biden.

The Trump Cabinet Nominees are facing their own Confirmation proceedings. Pam Bondi at Justice, Ratcliff as DCI, Rubio at State, Burgum at Interior, Wright at Energy. There are others and hundreds in the in-coming Administration require Senate approval. As Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary performed well at his hearing yesterday, so one can expect Trump's other picks to also be confirmed.

This evening, President Biden will deliver his Farewell Address. At about the same time, hostages that remain in Gaza could be close to release. Trump assumes Office next Monday and, in an action reminiscent of the Iranian hostages released as President Ronald Reagan took his own Oath of Office. Some expect an imminent resolution in Gaza. If not, Trump has promised to release hell. Or words to the effect.

Speaking of Trump. By the numbers, he has staged the greatest political comeback in history. Any regular viewer of these Pages will recall that there was no chance the former President could recover to the point that he is being sworn in, again, next Monday. When that finally happens, and Trump is back in the Oval Office, there are reports that he plans some 150 Executive Orders of his own.

Finally, a word to the Audience. This project was made possible by all of you that can put up with all the (expletive deleted). Thank you all.

By the numbers.
