Page Turning. . .

(Page Turning. . .)

Today is the penultimate phase of the Biden Administration. President Biden has vacated the White House and President-Elect Trump will be moving in next week. Tomorrow, if Phase One of the Israel-Hamas cease fire proceeds, the first hostages will be released. It would appear that weather is forcing Trump's Inauguration indoors. So much for matching crowds from 2017.

The accidental nature of the Biden Presidency cannot be sufficiently stressed. The term right place right time has seldom been more applicable. But if one is honest, the President was to have a minimalist work-load. At the time of his own Inauguration, Democrats were in control of Capitol Hill and the Senate was contemplating rule changes such the filibuster elimination that would in turn allow the passage of green legislation and the possibility of adding the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, each with two reliable Democrat Senators apiece. Before they were compromised, Senators Manchin (D-WV) and Sinema (D-AZ), each opted to remain with traditional processes.

In other words, Congress was supposed to do the heavy lifting. President Biden was to be the figurehead and whatever cognitive issues he might have had were not generally known. When Republicans re-gained the Majority, 2023, and the Biden-Trump debate in 2024, it was clear that without Congress to cover, the President was revealed to not be further capable of being President.

As mentioned, the Israel-Hamas cease-fire begins tomorrow. The first group of hostages will be freed but with all those that paroled by the terror group in an exchange of thirty to one. Hostage retrieval is good. Re-construction of Gaza will be good. However, how many Palestinian prisoners will return to the fight ? Could there be a new October 7th this year ? If hostilities do re-ignite, what would the American response under President Trump ?

Speaking of President Trump, he is getting sworn in Monday. Because of inclement weather., like really cold temperatures. Trump will be taking the Oath of Office in the Capitol Rotunda. Vice President Vance will be sworn in first. Unfortunately. the Capitol does not fit all those who might have been on the Mall. As in 2017, where there was a crowd but the point was made that it was not as big as it could have been. That being said, where will the President give his Inaugural speech ?

Out with the old. The old President, the old terror group and the old Inaugural process. Donald Trump will begin his new Administration indoors. And that will limit those left in the cold.
