Steve Bannon can be seen as one most responsible for the election of Donald Trump. It had been his influence on the former President that comported Trump's behavior on January 6th. In the investigating Congressional Committee of those events, Steve Bannon had been called as a witness, even being subpoenaed to which the former Presidential adviser ignored, citing executive privilege. The not amused Committee have held Bannon in contempt, sentenced him to four months in prison, and have fined him over eight thousand dollars.


Hardly the devastating outcome for the one who put Trump in the White House. Bannon was supposed to be chastened. He was supposed to realize the errors of his ways. But, and with s defiant tone at his press conference, Bannon said he accepted the judge's decision and admonished the Committee members that their time was perhaps limited. Bannon will be going forward, however, with the conviction as a badge of honor.


Bannon's conviction notwithstanding, the January 6th Committee has to be seen as a failure as it has done nothing that will prevent Donald Trump from running again. And. irony among irony, Steve Bannon will probably campaign for the former. should the chance present itself. That will not happen, but Bannon does not know that.


As the January 6th Committee will be ending and will be personas non gratas. in any Republican Congress, if there was any real culpability of the out-going President at the time, such a kangaroo court would not be the vehicle for discovery. Trump is no longer the issue however but the assembly of January 6th and why it was so one-sided with the pre-determined outcome, one has to ask what had been the point ?


The Committee will go down, as just contributing to the Congressional Record and not much else. Congressional Republicans will have more to do than to look at what had been a sham process in the first place. So, Steve Bannon has been convicted for contempt of Congress. Considering all the people involved, contempt is easy. But who, exactly has the notch on the belt ? The January 6th Committee ? Or Steve Bannon ?

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio.
