Anyone who has been a regular viewer of these pages have known the opinions of the author. In this time, twelve years come January, there has never been any attempt at self-censorship and material has been published that many would consider offensive. The only solace to be offered is to "get over themselves." Snowflake feelings such as they are, do not pose a problem.


That being said, Elon Musk has the right idea. While The (Daily) Vent has no Twitter presence and that will probably stay the same. As much was said a few weeks ago when there would be no Tesla nor any Twitter account. Musk then is doing with Twitter what has been policy here from the beginning.


So, what is free expression ? It has been the ability to savage Biden Administration and its Hill allies. Taking the President to task over the whole spectrum of his failed policies. The reason the GOP will be doing well in nine days is that the Administration did so badly with regards to the American people that made life so much more expensive and chaotic with the double whammy of inflation and crime. What would have been the point of any commentary if such items get ignored ?


So, that is why we are all here. It had been the original design of these pages, about "current events and popular culture," to attempt to do something other than pure politics.  But, look at what was there to work with ? First there had been President Obama. Then Trump. Now Biden. Congressional flips in between. and about to see another one. And on it goes. Now I am not going to follow Elon Musk but, that being said, Mr. Musk is more than welcome to follow me.

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. (TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. May 5th as it happens is the anniversary of Mexico's victory over French "occupation" of Mexico by Emperor Maximillian, brother to Austrian monarch Maria Theresa in what has been called the Battle of Puebla. The reason France was in Mexico in the first place was that Mexico, after the Mexican-American War and a more civil conflict called the Reform War, had bankrupted Mexico City. Mexican President at the time was Benito Juarez, who repudiated all foreign debt, of which France, Spain, and the United Kingdom were all major holders. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel. In California, the new $20/HR minimum wage is wreaking havoc on the fast food industry. And finally, after depleting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, oil has now become too expensive. How many times must the Biden Administration think it can influence Israeli affairs ? How many times must Israel ignore it.
