The Day The Lights Go Out In Georgia. . .

(The Day The Lights Go Out In Georgia. . .)

It might be appropriate to begin with the news that Dr. Fauci is retiring from his position as White House infectious disease expert. He had been the point-man in the corona pandemic and it could be possible that he had some influence in the virus development in the first place. And it is true that the pandemic once it had gone global killed several million world wide and just over a million in this country in this country. The economy was closed as well as a substantial portion of school closures. Trillions in wealth were lost, countless of businesses shuttered  and school children lost about a year of their education career. The alternative, however, was Donald Trump would have remained in Office.

There have been two additional casualties of Trump's involvement in the recently passed Mid-Terms. In Alaska, Kelly Tshibaka, an Alaska Republican, who had been backed by former President Trump, is blaming Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell for her failure to oust centrist GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski this election cycle. This is precisely the scenario where McConnell has opted to be Minority Leader, again by supporting his person. As the post morta gets analyzed, it will demonstrate that the Senate Republican Leader has no vision or ambition and is content to allow for the status quo. What can be said, however, is that McConnell will still have Donald Trump as a foil.

With the political demise of Ms. Tshibaka in Alaska, one can also the imminent demise of Hershal Walker in Georgia, Trump's other endorsed candidate that is also losing his race. Having a 50-50 Senate is one thing but how might he feel if the count is 51-49 ? Predictions of what might happen in that eventuality has already been discussed and Senator McConnell will have to decide what that role will be.

But why is Hershal Walker going to lose ? In a state like Georgia, reliably "red" in a previous light, is the leftist radicalism of Senator Warnock really the preference of Peach State voters ? That will be a question of messaging and when the forceps are applied to this race, one could only conclude that the GOP message, especially the Trump variety, no longer resonates. Previous assumptions of the so-called conservative ideology of the state are no longer valid.

In the final analysis, the "America First" approach of Donald Trump has been rejected. It has been manifest in the election of Joe Biden and the re-election of Rafael Warnock. It would appear that big government green socialism has prevailed now all that is required is for this team to return to Washington to put those ideas into practice.
