Has one ever noticed that these past election cycles had been dubbed so-called "wave elections" or, this time, it will be called the most important contest in history ? That had been the case in 2016. In 2018. Especially in 2020 where Donald Trump was forced out. So now, with just five days to go, the same hysterias abound. There is endless poll analysis across the media. Candidates up or down, numbers tightening and the litany persists.

However. these events are not taking place in a vacuum. The President had given a forlorn speech the other day where he apparently discussed his impression of the economy and offered a predictable tirade on the dangers of MAGA Republicans. The Supreme Court heard arguments on Affirmative Action for college admissions. Mister Speaker Pelosi was assaulted in his own home.

While he had his show on Showtime, SNL alum Dennis Miller went to what he called "his rant." That was basically what President Biden presented the other evening. His Party could be on the verge of significant losses but instead of addressing any incumbent concerns, Biden, while taking credit for economic conditions that have not materialized but Republicans are a threat to democracy. Like that will change any votes.

And what about the Supreme Court and Affirmative Action ? Two suits from Harvard and University of North Carolina have brought suits that allege discrimination based on race. The position of these pages over the years has been against the practice as there is no way that such positions do not amount to racial quotas. The example used had been General Colin Powell. Among his other accomplishments, he had been Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Powell for his part, had been an advocate of Affirmative Action but at the same time, one could also say that Powell's race was a factor in determining his various appointments. In any event, with the current ideological composition of the Bench, Affirmative Action will be ruled un-Constitutional.

One would think that Paul and Nancy would live in a nice neighborhood. However, Mr. Pelosi was assaulted by a deranged Canadian who reportedly took a hammer to the Mister Speaker, who received a skull fracture. Mr. Pelosi was treated and is expected to make a full recovery. The incident does generate concerns that with Democrat weak on crime policies, that even the house of the House Speaker can be violated in such a manner. And that is San Francisco. In New York, after a man had been released on bail for assaulting his wife, and then the next day, kills her in front of their children.

So, this Mid-Term is advancing to completion. Over the next now less than a week, this background will be processed. Will this be the end of Democracy as a bunch of Trump Republicans seem poised to be very active next Tuesday. How much of a nightmare will this new Congress be for President Biden ? How might one spell relief.
