It is called over-compensation. When a sniper is setting up a shot. looking to put a round down range, if the wind is not factored, a miss will be a miss. Like buying a company only to announce a departure because of some poll. Lauding a leader where comparisons to Winston Churchill are misplaced. A four-thousand-page spending bill with more pork than most pig farms, a line item, billions for additional Ukraine aid, the most important item for certain Republican Senators.


Now, as the world's richest man, Elon Musk is entitled to a little whimsey. Spending $44 billion for Twitter and then broadening its profile to expand access to alternative points of view, like conservative, and exposing FBI connections with the platform to frame Donald Trump and his Russian connections. Old news for some but still not quite public knowledge. Anyhow, Musk released a poll, on Twitter, on whether he should remain as CEO. In a word, Musk has been "voted" out. And. this joy ride has been a distraction from Musk's other concerns, Tesla and SpaceX. The stock prices have been going down and there has been turmoil at Twitter with those sympathetic with the old regime. So, the CEO has announced he will step down once a replacement is found.


Now, these pages have never assumed a Ukrainian victory. The fact that the war has been costly to Russia and its President Putin, and the bravery of the Ukrainian people cannot be over-stated and President Zelenski is being hailed as the next Churchill. Churchill's War had to be won. Zelenski's war needs to end. All the western aid has been prolonging the in-evitable and the battery of Patriot missiles to assist in engaging Russian drones over Ukrainian civilians. Putin has said that such assistance would be an escalation.


Tell one that four thousand pages is no bridge too far ? If the Ukraine War is to be concluded, a further bank-roll from the U.S. Congress could only prologue things. What about funding border security ? What about not having a tax hike, corporate or otherwise ? What if Republicans began acting like Republicans and made common cause with colleagues in the House ?


Talk about joy rides. With no joy.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. May 5th as it happens is the anniversary of Mexico's victory over French "occupation" of Mexico by Emperor Maximillian, brother to Austrian monarch Maria Theresa in what has been called the Battle of Puebla. The reason France was in Mexico in the first place was that Mexico, after the Mexican-American War and a more civil conflict called the Reform War, had bankrupted Mexico City. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel.
