Mel Bakersfeld was general manager of Chicago Lincoln International Airport in Authur Hailey's 1968 novel Airport and played by Burt Lancaster in the eponymously named movie two years later. As entertaining as the whole story is, a change in regime usually means a change in personnel. That is what happened when Elon Musk assumed the helm at Twitter and how he proceeded to "purge" those executives that had comprised the previous mark-up and those who were responsible for the platform's previous actions. A central figure in the Russia dis-information story was a lawyer by the name of James Baker, not the President Bush Chief of Staff or Secretary of State, but an attorney that was on retainer with previous FBI Director, James Comey.


Baker, now that he has been severed from Twitter, could be facing a Congressional inquiry once Republicans are in the Majority, Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) to chair the Judicial Committee. One has to remember, however, that Baker's role at Twitter was defined. He was to be part of the mechanism that was the combination of the FBI, Big Tech and most of the national media to protect the candidacy of Joe Biden.


The next question to ask is who will be the next Speaker of the House ? Republicans did carry the Chamber but as to whom will run that Chamber has not yet been decided. The conventional wisdom is that Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA) will be elevated to the Gavel but that is no sure thing at the moment. McCarthy is having challengers, namely Congressman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and perhaps a few others.


The self-inflicted chaos that is the Senate Republican Conference has already been discussed and the GOP is not one to need the same drama in the House. The time to make a decision on the Post is not unlimited. And, come January 3rd, and no one is in the Rostrum to Gaval in the Session, how big a (expletive deleted) are these Republican politicians need to be ?

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
