(Why The Devil Went Down To Georgia)

If one remembers the Charlie Daniles' song, "he was looking for a soul to steal." But, he lost a fiddling contest to "the best who's ever been." One is not just playing Dixie. The Georgia Senate run-off is reaching its terminal phase and the results can be safely predicted. Democrat incumbent Rafael Warnock is looking to be re-elected, now some four points ahead of GOP challenger Hershal Walker. At less than a week to go, there do not seem to be sufficient outstanding votes that would allow the former football star to close the gap.


What is it that Senator Warnock has that is deemed superior to Walker ? From what one thought the ideological composition of the Peach State must be re-considered as Warnock's radical positions, like police defunding and so on. Does such a policy meet with Georgian approval ? Atlanta, like any other Democrat-controlled municipality has its own high crime issues so why the approval of Warnock's stand ?


The issue is less the approval of Warnock but rather a dis-approval of Walker. Read Trump. President Biden himself is an empty suit but, because he was not his predecessor, the dice was rolled on him. The Georgia race is in microcosm the rejection of Trump and his MAGA agenda. All things being equal, however. there will also be a cost in discarding Trump. That is manifesting itself in worsening economic conditions, the Fed having to raise interest rates again. And, truth also be told. Warnock is not going back to Washington for any benefit to be accrued to the people of Georgia.


Warnock will be the 51st vote in the Senate. The potential from there is endless.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. (Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences.
