In the Godfather franchise, Alfredo "Fredo" Corleone had been a middle child with not much to speak for him. He, unlike Santino "Sonny," or for that matter, Michael, Fredo was the one sent to Las Vegas to "learn the casino business." But Fredo was weak and was manipulated over several times. Moe Green ? Johnny Ola, Frankie Pentangle, and Hyman Roth. Fredo had sought their support as a foil to an overbearing and younger brother Michael. But what the elder Corleone did not anticipate the assassination attempt on Michael as his compound was riddled with gun fire. Eventually, and these was the plot-line to Godfather II, Michael Corleone, "settled the Family debts" as Ola, Pentangle and Roth all met ends. For his part, Fredo thought he could reconcile with Michael, but Michael had Al Meri take Fredo fishing.


So, is Donald Trump and Facebook the same as Michael and Fredo Corleone ? The comparison might not be that relevant but the media platform did expel the ex-President because Facebook was a main reason in Trump's ouster. Supposedly in response to January 6th, Facebook took the extra step of banning Trump altogether.


Till now. Trump's expulsion had served its purpose in he was not able to effectively communicate with his "followers." The situation has changed, however. The prospects that Trump will ever again be President have been diminished so there is little danger that Facebook would have to again influence an election. as it allegedly did almost three years ago.


Also, Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter and the contrary ideological stance as opposed to Meta (Facebook's new moniker), rendered the combined efforts across the social media spectrum un-necessary. Donald Trump is out of Office, Republicans were only minimally successful in the Mid-Terms. In short platform collusion could be placed aside.


Donald Trump had attempted to compensate the Meta ban by starting a new service called Truth Social. To gain the same following that had been available at Meta would have taken years. Meta is restoring Trump's short-cut so he can "communicate" with all those in his orbit. That being said, however, this re-instatement might not be permanent. If the former President in his current campaign re-gains some notoriety, if his polling positions improves and the possibility arises of him getting the GOP nod, again, Meta could once more step in and give its side of the story.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
