By Invitation Only. . .

(By Invitation Only. . .)

A couple of months ago, and with all the intensity of taking a stash house, the FBI raided Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Estate in search of misplaced classified documents that appeared to be improperly handled. As one remembers, there was a pile on the floor, and, as the former President has attested, these files had been in the process of transfer to the National Archives, for proper storage.

Now, President Biden seems to be in a similar situation as his predecessor, discoveries of his own set of mis-handled documents discovered at various locations in Biden proximity, his residence in Delaware the latest haul. Here, the FBI also made a visit to this location but it was not a raid in the Mar-a-Lago sense but a polite examination of the contents so discovered. This time, there was no examining Jill Biden's closet the same as had been with Melania Trump.

All that being said, there is still a Special Counsel investigating the incidents and, for proprieties' sake, the media has become less quiescent. The White House, with the President aware that there could additional documents to be found and in an attempt to get ahead of the story, so invited the Bureau to enter the premises and secure those materials themselves.

There are legitimate questions about Biden's own "Docugate," questions that are of a different nature than the Trump episode. Because Biden is the sitting President some deference is afforded. That being said, whatever degree of cooperation the White House is giving what it wants to avoid at all costs is a raid-type as was seen in Palm Beach.

Current punditry is varying from simple mis-handling of these documents to the President perhaps actually committing a crime. There is history in this regard. Former Secretary of State Clinton had an infamous private server on which some 33,000 files, some classified, were stored on that "gadget." She might not have become President but she never received sanction. Mr. Bidem is President and the approaches to his document problem will probably be handled in the same manner. As long a things appear above board.
