One can probably say this movie has been seen before. An alien intelligence of some sort makes a visit to Earth and. benign or hostile, prefers contact with the leadership. From the original War of the Worlds to Independence Day, and every other piece of Sci-Fi this or that on TV and film in between, a common question gets posed. What would be the current the quality of leadership ?

What had been President's Biden's "quality" during this balloon crisis, where Nena's "99 Luftballoons" is the only idea talking about more inflatable gadgets. The reason that subsequent targets have been more readily engaged is because the first vehicle had the whole tour and, as embarrassing as that incident was and as bad optics are bad optics, no tour was granted to these "flights."

Considering the potential nature of these balloon excursions, one would think that the President of the United States, as Commander in Chief would have a better grasp with what is happening to the U.S. Armed services and at what point assets could be engaged to neutralize any threat. That Biden seemed to wait, initially, either speaks to a lack of awareness or a lack of interest. Or indeed both.

To be sure, President Joe Biden is no President Tom Whitmore (Today, we celebrate our Independence Day) from the movie of the same name. However, the world is not faced with 15-Mile-Wide city destroying spaceships but in all likelihood a series of un-authorized aerial surveillance platforms dispatched by the Peoples' Republic of China. But this "Balloongate" is again demonstrating what happens to the President when he gets specifically countered. He runs off to Delaware and whatever safe space he can find. When the threat can be 15 miles wide, such a space can be hard to come by.
