This was a film that had been honored at the last Academy Awards. No, it has not been viewed and Best Actor used to be "Encino Man." That being said, the aforementioned title capsulates nicely all that crap that is going on in the world all at the same time. The banking crisis, the new Sino-Russian Alliance, the President's recent veto, the border crisis beyond critical mass, And former President Trump is still set to be indicted, if not today than probably in the near future and Christ knows what else. With everything that is going down, however, the Biden Administration is singularly ill-equipped to deal with things.


Take the banking crisis. One is familiar with all the financial services that get advertised on business shows and the viewer gets admonished that there is risk with any investment. That has traditionally been the case. Then Silicon Valley et al went under. As has been previously discussed, the bank was heavily invested in woke ESG causes and such outlays do not produce dividends. However, there is a process to limit SVB's effect can be mitigated. That would be the sale of the bank at market price. But the ideology that contributed to Silicon's failure in the first place, produces a reluctance to allow the process to work as it should. The bank customers need to be made whole. But that is not a blanket remedy. Bailouts should not be considered.


In August, 1939, the infamous Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the Foreign Ministers of Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany where the Soviets were promises Eastern Poland while Germany took the West. The Pact secured Hitler's eastern flank so he could turn West. Which he did, until he turned back East. The new "arrangement" between Beijing and Moscow is the same as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact with security consequences for this country. Of all the things the President needs to be aware of, this should top the list.


But Biden seems dis-engaged. He would rather veto investments that do not conform to his own ESG agenda. Or his in-attentiveness to the border. The President is only focused on topics he is interested in and that does not include fixing the frontier or allowing individual investors to craft their own transactions. And, truth be told, to what extent is Biden involved with the Peoples' Republic ? Who has been getting close to Russia ?


It had been suggested that Donald Trump was to be indicted today. However, the empaneled grand jury has another witness to depose. The charge can be levelled next week. The end result, however, will, in this estimation, be the same. Trump's legal situation will have nothing to do with the outcome.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
