That Bad Shade Of Green

(That Bad Shade Of Green)

Happy St. Patrick's Day !

Kermit the Frog had once said "that it's not easy being green." These days, however, the term being "green" has developed a whole new set of connotations. This is climate hysteria and global elites have coerced the rest of the planet into policies that make no sense. Case in point would be President Biden's grudgingly authorization if Willow, Alaska, A more extreme case, of one were possible, was the decision by the Dutch Government, with its own extreme climate policy, wanted to buy out Dutch farms and livestock, eliminating the livelihoods for thousands of Hollanders.

As with most other things these days, there was a backlash. A new Dutch political party, the Farmer Citizen Movement Party, just gained the most seats in the Dutch Senate. Now, runners up in this election are more to the left, but with fewer numbers. Any coalition in Amsterdam formed will need to re-assess climate policy and Farmers and Citizens will have the biggest voice.

In this country, the Republican-controlled House took a step towards to reverse President Biden's anti-fossil fuel stance, Willow notwithstanding. HR-1, the first Bill out of this Congress, the "Lower Energy Costs Act" expands every where Biden would not go. In essence, HR-1 would promote domestic energy production and roll back excessive regulations.

It is true that the GOP only has the House but there could be a number of Senators who would vote on a similar measure. However, it is not likely that Majority Leader Schumer would bring the Bill up and, in any case, Biden would veto the legislation. But a trend is forming. Between the Netherlands and House action, a rejection of extremist climate policy is coalescing.

It is St. Patrick's tradition that if one were not garbed in green, one gets a pinch. Just ask Leopold "Butters" Stoch from South Park. But what has been evolving is a decidedly anti-green direction. Climate policy has not been good for the average person, in this country and elsewhere. Those with the Davos syndrome had taken it upon themselves to implement their own visions, whether they made sense in a broader context or not.
