These Things Never End Well

(These Things Never End Well)

Famed Science Fiction author Arthur C. Clark once commented on artificial intelligence. He would more than most. The HAL 9000 was his creation and was an early indication of the dangers of computers that get that "smart." There have been other examples where humanity gets subsumed by thinking machines. The Terminator series ? The Matrix ? Forbin's Colossus Project ?  9 ?. One can be sure that there other examples but the point is readily made. Embracing an unfettered drive in the pursuit of artificial intelligence could be holding risks that are yet to be recognized,

So, some are advising "restraint" Tesla/Twitter CEO Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Stephen Wozniak has suggested six months, which would allow for any "bugs" to identified and eliminated. That being said, AI is going beyond smart. The TV is 70" and it is "smart." One does not know what effect an AI addition will have. The objective truth is that computers can do more with their automatic relays than could be replicated by the human brain.

Nevertheless, AI would seem to be the next big thing and progress must proceed, or it would not be progress. The danger is that Man is developing technology that for the first time can reflect Man's abilities but would be able to execute at a superior level. And, one must also realize that China is also in this "race."

Smile. . . is you're not a robot.
