(Down Payment On That Edsel)

There have been numerous examples throughout history of spectacular failures, The Hindenburg. New Coke. The Ford Edsel. The latter had been a production model that could not roll of the lot if they were free. In the Kathleen Turner movie Peggy Sue Got Married, "Peggy Sue" was re-living her life and remarked that her father had been one of the few that bought one. But the reason the Edsel did no sell was because no one wanted it.


Now, it would seem that President Biden is forcing the country into buying the equivalent of a bunch of electric Edsel's, whether people want it or not. A lot of people don't like vegetables. Others would kill for chocolate. But these are personal choices. America was built by the car. All those sports cars, sedans, and SUV's are by the tens of millions and are reflective of a desire to embrace the open road on their own unique terms.


There is an inherent im-practicability with converting some American models to all electric. The Ford Mustang would be one. The Dodge Challenger would be another. And every pick-up or SUV just would not have the same performance if they were all electrified. As one might live in the country or an otherwise where range beyond the capacity of an electric vehicle, what might one do than ? Have any of these realities been considered by Mr. Biden ?


Another thing that is being forced fed to people, again whether they want it or not, is the new "mascot" for Bud Lite, a so-called "trans influencer" named Derick Mulvany. Al Bundy once had a saying that pretty women make men want to buy beer. "Ugly" women, on the other hand, make men want to drink beer.


What was Budweiser thinking ? Mulvaney is such a bust as a spoke "person," that the company has lost $5 billion. Bud Lite can't get sold from stores. With all due respect and this is strictly my opinion, Mulvaney is a weirdo. But this episode is an indication that there is a collective need to "virtue signal" on the part of corporate America. At least Miller Lite had the sense to use a dog.


And one more thing. If one has to drink lite beer, then he or she doesn't need to drink beer at all.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel.
