There was a TV show developed by Stephen J. Cannell (The A-Team, et al) called Bah, Bah, Bleck Sheep that starred Robert Conrad and a few other. A very young John Larroquette had been originally cast. In any event, the show was a fictionalized version of Marine Corps fighter squadron VMS-214 and its flamboyant Commander, Gregory "Pappy" Boyington. The show flew F4U Corsairs and was never short on combat scenes. In one episode, James Darren was a guest star and was attached to Two-Fourteen as a publicity stunt. The public relations officer made Darren to be a hero, claiming daily "kills" on Japanese aircraft, making the guest star an "ace (five or more kills)" several times over. But he was a fraud and when he took up his F$U for real, he got shot down. The public relations hero had been made a martyr and that was worth a few in war bonds.


Like James Darren making a guest appearance on Bah, Bah, Black Sheep, a publicity stunt, so that would seem to be the extent of the real commitment to the fighting in Ukraine. A top secret assessment was recently leaked and, like making ace on a daily basis, the true situation in Southeastern Europe is more nuanced. After over a year of fighting, Ukraine is beginning to experiencing a munitions shortage. in particular its depletion in anti-air assets.


Whatever window Kiev might have had to end the war decisively rapidly closing and if Ukraine does not receive its re-supply soon then the advantage will be passed to Moscow. That has been the prediction since the beginning and recent discussions on Mukden and the Soviet experience in the Winter War against Finland, where the Russians were always able to recover, that will probably be the outcome in this case,


These distractions have to end. This American infatuation with Ukrainian Independence needs to be tempered in the face of growing threats from China now that Beijing is setting its sights on Taipei. President Biden has not yet "said" if he is running for a Second Term, whether people want him to or not. Biden cannot be a war time leader because he is less decisive than Hamlet. Like making fake ace.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
