Every campaign, Presidential or otherwise, invariably will have a flavor of the month. That would be except if one is Donald Trump. In the past, when a new candidate emerges, there is a spike in the polling for that individual. In the 2016 cycle, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) saw his numbers bump when he announced. The same thing happened to Senator Ted Cruz. (R-TX). When New York developer and reality star Donald Trump came down that escalator in June 2015, he did not get an automatic bounce and had to wade through the process before he was elected in the end.


The reason why Trump will not win again is becoming evident. Trump is that flavor of the month, for the time being. That apparently us changing. There is an evolving awareness that President Trump cannot win a year next November, and despite his numbers now, a gradual realization is materializing that an alternative to the former President should start to be considered.


Will that be DeSantis ? The Florida Governor has been seen as the only real option. That being said, Trump's Vice President, Mike Pense, is declaring his own candidacy next week. A Pense announcement will be seen by Trump as even a bigger betrayal than DeSantis. Trump blames Pense for allowing the 2020 Results to be certified. Like what had been the Vice President's options ?


Between DeSantis and Pense, those will be the true Trump alternatives. As long as an acknowledgement continues to develop on the lack of Trump's ultimate chances, people will start to vote accordingly. And the GOP gets saved because Donald Trump is finally discarded.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. May 5th as it happens is the anniversary of Mexico's victory over French "occupation" of Mexico by Emperor Maximillian, brother to Austrian monarch Maria Theresa in what has been called the Battle of Puebla. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel.
