There was supposed to be an understanding. In Washington, certain people are to be protected and any and all malfeasance would be processed beyond what is normal jurisprudence. There are two tiers of Justice, there has to be. The record of Hunter Biden's activities over recent years when viewed objectively demonstrates an illegality in taxes and weapons that would mandate incarceration for most others. Biden Jr, by virtue of who his father is, however, is the special case and in that context, the Biden Justice Department crafted a plea deal, the wrist slap that had been described earlier. In a Delaware Courthouse yesterday, Hunter Biden presented himself in what he believed was to be a simple matter to plead guilty to two mis-demeanor charges.


At least that had been the plan. The Judge in the case, Ms. Noreika, invalidated the agreement. The primary reason was that Hunter Biden was still under investigation. It is still a question as to whether Biden Jr. had acted as a foreign agent and thus subject to those statutes. In any event, Biden pleaded not guilty to the charges on the indictment and Judge Noreika ordered Junior to "get a job, eschew drugs and alcohol, do not acquire a weapon and so on.


The money shot has always been President Biden. Far from Joe Biden insisting he has never had any connection to any of Hunter's dealings, evidence continues to build to the contrary. In can be said that Joe Biden has developed an integrated political infrastructure that propelled him to the White House. If President Biden is a fortress, the Hunter Biden controversies are acting like sappers undermining the fort's foundations.


That is why the original plea deal was seen as so critical and the expectation that Biden Jr. would make his appearance and be out in five minutes, And, had Judge Noreika accepted the plea, which was also expected, then the "Hunter Biden Affair" would have been closed. But going foreword, unless another accommodation is reached with prosecutors, Hunter Biden could be put on trial.


Such a proceeding would be un-precedented, like everything else in this issue. Witnesses would be called and deposed. And most of this would be in played out next year, in the middle of campaign next year. Donald Trump should be dealing with his own issues around the same time.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. (Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences.
