Who the Hell is David Weiss ? Technically, he is a U.S. Attorney from Delaware that has been investigating Hunter Biden. It had been his plea deal that collapsed the other week. But now, Attorney Genral Merrit Garland has just made Weiss a Special Counsel to investigate the Hunter matter. That raises a question. If the Justice Department had any intention of conducting an impartial investigation, then Garland would have appointed external to the Department, with complete independence. Weiss' maintenance suggests that the envisaged outcome has already been determined.


Weiss' selection as Special Counsel affords certain immunity from concurrent investigations being held in Congress. In other words, the fix is in and that is by design. There is a line from President Biden to Merrit Garland, David Weiss and whatever remains of the Hunter Biden query. This will do nothing, however, to persuade anybody. Weiss' product will have been tainted.


Things are in a race. Which will come first ? Former President Trump has his own legal issues, but which will materialize first, another Trump indictment or Biden Junior's exoneration ? Weiss had already allowed the statute of limitations in Hunter's case lapse. But now, there has been a development. Articles of Impeachment against President Biden have just been introduced.


Just as David Weiss was supposed to use his "position" to keep the look into Hunter in-house, which no one really believes, Congressman Greg Stube (R-FL) not willing to wait for his Republican colleagues in the Conference, has introduced a Resolution that could lead to a Floor vote on the issue. Stube has pre-empted what was supposed to a slower and more deliberative approach.


On these dual tracks, one to keep Hunter at arms' length from the President and thus his protection. But what Junior's investigation has revealed is that the President did benefit from his son's activities but Weiss is there to set up guard rails. That being said, however, with impeachment now a declared fact, Republicans will need now to close ranks. If there is enough evidence, proceed with the vote. Just don't ask David Weiss.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. (Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences.
