Melting Snowflakes

(Melting Snowflakes)

Green used to be a favorite color. Naturally, it was because it is the color of money. But the shade has been perverted. An alternative for a favorite color could be purple, at least that is still the hue of royalty. But going green can be costly. It can become an obsession that is causing mental harm in the lives of some. The saying "go green and go broke" is no accident. In Montana, a federal judge sided with young plaintiffs won a decision that concerns about climate change are causing harm. The fires that ravaged Maui could have been contained earlier but the focus of the indigenous electric company was to make adjustments to climate concerns instead of updating its transmission infrastructure, whose arcing began most of the blaze in the first place.

How much of a life does one need to bring a suit over climate change ? What came first, the chicken or the egg ? What came first, the activist or the activist judge ? It has been this "partnership" that has put this case into the judicial system and it will need to be adjudicated through the appeals process. And then what ?

The complaint is that Montana state agencies infringing on the health and well-being of the plaintiffs because Helana is not doing enough to limit fossil fuels for the sake of the environment. Big Sky has nominally been an energy state so, despite mandates from Washington. The ruling can be distilled to this: the government is responsible to combat climate change for the mental well being of its citizens.

Where in the Constitution is mental health guaranteed, from stress over climate or anything else. Such a ruling will have little chance when it gets to the Supreme Court but case law has been developed in this area and it will float till it gets decided otherwise. Then, there is what happened to Maui.

The Lahaina blazes will be for President Biden what Hurricane Katrina was for President Bush. But Biden had to be made aware, several times, before he announced a belated trip to this scorched earth. But one has to ask what of the President's green agenda and Hawaiian Electric's reaction to it contributed to these fires ?

This green movement pathology is akin to Trump derangement syndrome. It is getting into the Courts and is now limiting how one might react in an emergency. Kermit the Frog might have said it's "not easy being green" but it should be harder than this.
