It can be very common for a generation to be skipped when one follows one in a leadership position. Oftentimes, the one who succeeds is not of the same quality as the original. In an example from the Roman Empire, Emperor Marcus Aurilias deviated from practice and, instead of adopting an Heir, Marcus had a son, Commodus. He proved to be a megalomaniac and was himself assassinated. Or, what of the Great Captains of American industry and their offspring ? Did a Rockerfeller produce a family that matched the influence of the head of Standard Oil ? Or a Carnegie ? Or a Morgan ? A Vanderbilt ? More often than not, former Senator "John D. "Jay" Rockefeller IV (D-WV) might have been the exception.


What about Vice President Harris ? Or, for that matter, Hunter Biden ? All evidence to the contrary, the Ms. Harris sounds confident that she could manage being Commander in Chief. And the scary thing is that she might have to at any moment. The phrase "one heartbeat away" had never been so relevant. For President Biden to last all the way to next Election Day could be problematic to say the least. However, elevating Harris to Oval Office would only exacerbate an already chaotic situation. If President Biden is perennially confused, imagine how things could be with President Harris ?


A President Harris, in order to "make her bones," would be an even greater climate extremist as her current boss. Recently, President Biden cancelled millions of acres of Alaskan oil development. That will be a burden in the Last Frontier and Harris would be an enthusiastic advocate of Biden's green/socialist agenda. But Harris has been playing second fiddle to perhaps the most un-popular President in history and depend on Ms. Harris to make things worse. Can one see a President Harris in a summit with Xi Jinping ? Vladimir Putin ? How would a crackling word salad enhance the American position in the world ? 


After playing musical charges with Hunter Biden, it is looking like the First Son will finally be indicted by Special Counsel Weiss in his own right over Junior's gun charges. This is what should have disappeared in the abrogated "plea deal" that had been rejected some weeks ago. If the object is to provide Hunter Biden the best defense available, that would necessarily require the deposition from his father, the President. Other witnesses could be called but however this could develop, in order to work in his own interest, Hunter Biden could be compelled to throw Joe Biden under the bus.


If one is a successful Roman Emperor, probably the last one, it was easy to see that his son would not necessarily have the same talents, in fact, Commodus did not. One remembers the story that the grandson of J. Getty was kidnapped to which the oil billionaire refused to pay. Those who can create a fortune with hard work and dedication, spoil the next generation so they can be filled with indolence and sloth. President Biden has not been the best example, Much less for Vice President Harris, or his son.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. May 5th as it happens is the anniversary of Mexico's victory over French "occupation" of Mexico by Emperor Maximillian, brother to Austrian monarch Maria Theresa in what has been called the Battle of Puebla. Mexican President at the time was Benito Juarez, who repudiated all foreign debt, of which France, Spain, and the United Kingdom were all major holders. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel.
