Course Change ?

(Course Change ?)

Green energy is beginning to lose its luster. Its promise of clean energy and zero carbon emissions has been confronted with the reality of real energy needs. An example would be New York's decision that would place further off-shore wind development in jeopardy. Those are the large windmills that are killing whales but more are being planned that at best would be eye-sores and whales would be extinct by then.

If then Empire State is re-evaluating it wind posture, in itself a blow to the President's climate agenda, then perhaps Biden can re-evaluate his own stance on energy production, and, truth be told, he does have much of a choice. The Israel-Hamas War has the potential to escalate and involve petroleum-producing nations. And that will have a predictable effect on oil prices, on gas prices, and so goes inflation.

That being said, the President has in his power to follow New York's example and re-open American domestic oil production. Now, it is true that there will be years before oil production is restored before the President launched his ill-conceived war on fossil fuels. What Biden needs to do now is reverse everything he has done to date and pen a new Executive Order that would encourage more drilling and fracking, build more refineries and everything that can be done to bring American production back to pre-Biden levels.

That is the easy solution but like everything else in the Biden Presidency, he never does easy. That being said, if he does not this time, that people will see that the President had an opportunity to make their lives better by taking the obvious step of drilling more oil and improve the infrastructure, gas would become cheaper and that could be beneficial, at least to President Biden.

Then there are those who would kill whales so that a wind-mill farm could be built. Their own projections for New York to be totally lit from wind power would not tolerate any reversion by the President increasing oil production. In their utopia, oil and all other fossil fuels have been removed. But if the current state of the world is any indication, utopia is hell and gone.

As of this typing, the "jump off" by the IDF into Gaza has yet to materialize though engagements continue to occur. For his part, the President cancelled a trip to Colorado to discuss green energy. But the President is back in Washington with his National Security team. Defense Secretary Austin has issued possible deployment orders for certain American service members to go in country. But none of this is being attributed to Iran.

The world is a dangerous place but what the President can do, and must do, would be a sincere effort to restore American energy independence. And, once that is accomplished, these utopian if not dystopian, green dreams will finally be placed on the ash heap of history.
