Start here. Some days ago, Hamas fighters were rightly referred to as "punks." Givan a Kalashnikov, some explosives, and one also can go on a slaughter of innocents. To broaden the definition, people out protesting on behalf of the terror group who committed these atrocities can similarly be called punks. Whether one is carrying an AK-47 or a college textbook, to celebrate the murder of children, infants no less, advise me of any re-deemable quality of their character ?


One question has been answered, however. President Biden will use force. An ammunition yard and a weapons depot in Syria were struck by two F-16's deploying from Iraq. Almost 20 American service personnel have been wounded and the attack in Syria is a step but only a step and an in-sufficient one at that. Biden has alienated Israel, who were not briefed before hand. Iran because he has been unable to sever the Tehran connection completely. And, in a threat to his rear, a fair portion of the Democrat Party.


Some 33 Americans have been killed. About a dozen are still hostage in Gaza. The Administration has been going out of its way to continue to appease Iran while being ambivalent towards Israel. But to stand effectively with Isael means inflicting serious harm to Iran. Valving off Iranian oil exports to China and elsewhere. A Iranian tanker could be seized. There could be a more wide-spread engagement against Hezbollah missiles in Lebanon.


For its part, Israel seems to be starting the Gaza ground invasion in a more earnest fashion. In that eventuality, Iran has promised it own set of consequences. If it is not clear now that there is a technical state of war between Iran and Israel once must also conclude that hostilities do  exist at some point between this country and Iran. The earlier that fact is recognized by President Biden the better he should be able to act.


That being said, many Democrats are not supporting Israel and are even pro-Palestinian. Traditionally Jews tend to vote Democrat, but that coalition could fracture going forward. From the point of where re-election was all but assured and Donald Trump was going to jail with the assent of most of the nation, at the time. That had been and this is now. Over that time, Biden has detiorated along with his polices.


As of now, the Biden Administration does not have control of the Near East situation. At a time when American leadership and decisive action are required, the President of the United States is the singular individual wholly in-capable of such action. Biden will perhaps be willing to authorize a limited strike on this target or that but far short of what is required. There is no American strategic vision and, as a consequence, no ability to influence events. Chips will fall where they may.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
