According to the Constitution, the requirements for being President are that her be 37 years old. an American citizen and of good moral character. Whatever that means. One other quality has just been specified by the Vice President Harris is that President Biden is alive. That is contrary to some opinion. Mrs. Harris point is that Biden is well enough and will be re-elected, If that prediction fails to materialize, and Biden gets removed by some mechanism, either he removes himself form contention like President Johnson did in 1968, or he is removed by Party elders, Vice President Harris will be elevated to the Presidency.


There have been periods of history where the lack of American leadership at the top has consequences. The best example would be FDR in the closing days of World War II. If he had not stood for re-election in 1944, instead pass the torch to a Henry Wallace of a James Byrnes, it is they that would have gone to the Yalta Conference and be more firm with Generalissimo Stalin and not have that Crimea meeting where the Soviet Union were given those concessions that the infirm President Franklin Roosevelt could not manage. Yalta was held in February and the President was dead the following April.


Now, the requirement that the President is alive is not sufficient. There are multiple fires in progress, all of his creation, by and large, This Halloween and the world is a scary place. Who will dress as Joe Biden to go trick or treating ? If the experience of Halloween by Charlie Brown is any indication, Biden could finish the night with a bag full of rocks.


But who would want to dress up like Vice President Harris ? What houses would she visit ? Russia ? Ukraine ? Israel ? Iran ? North Korea ? All the trouble spots and one would have to rely on the VEEP to attempt to bring some order from the chaos but if her lack of action on the U.S. border, how might she manage these more severe situations ?


So, if there is an option, is to keep the President where he is because, as bad as he might be, Mrs. Harris could be so much worse. There is a funding mis-match between aid to Israel but also for the Ukraine. President Biden is still not in the New Hampshire Primary. But today is Halloween and kids should be out and about making the yearly contribution to tooth decay. And, try not to be scared and stop watching the news.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. (Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences.
