Return Of The "Interference" Candidate

(Return Of The "Interference" Candidate)

Yesterday, The (Daily) Vent turned thirteen. Since 2010, there has been an almost "daily" contribution to these Pages for the Author's own version of (expletive deleted). In 2016, former New York real estate guy and The Apprentice TV star, Donald Trump announced his intention to seek the GOP Nomination for President. At the time, these Pages called Trump the "interference" candidate because there was little evidence that Trump would be little more than a spoiler for the rest of the Republican Presidential field.

Then, Trump won and the plots to remove him from the White House began immediately. On Trump's Inauguration Day, an article in the Washington POST read when Trump's impeachment would begin. From the start, there was the Russian collusion myth. The Mueller Investigation, that produced absolutely nothing. The only reason President Trump was impeached, twice, was because Republicans lost the House. Then covid hit, and President Trump was not seen as being able to effectively manage. In 2020, Democrats were able to take advantage of the pandemic and arrange for rule changes, to engage in massive ballot harvesting and, with the further assistance of Big Media, Big Money, and Big Tech puts Joe Biden in the White House.

The year, 2021 was an opportunity to produce a post-Trump rules based Global Order that would limit the former President's volatility. New focus would be on the environment. As it happens, the conference at Davos is convening. Global elites that take it upon themselves to decide policy for the rest of the world; the Davos Syndrome as it has been called.

The anti-thesis of Davos is Donald Trump, who just won handily in the Iowa Caucus. If Trump manages a return to the White House, he will restore his previous regime. However, how Trump got here is a remarkable story. Yes, this Trump recovery is a remarkable story. But what must be equally remarkable is the collapse of the fortunes of the President and the inability of the Justice Department so far, to, with all the indictments and charges, damage Trump chances. Apparently, these outstanding issues did not affect the outcome in Iowa.

Iowa was the crucible and set the stage for the rest of the Campaign. Trump is leading in New Hampshire, whose Primary is a mere week away and he is showing strength in South Carolina, even over its former Governor, Nikki Haley. It is being suggested by some that the General Election is already underway because Trump's performance in Iowa was so dominant that there is little sense that Governors DeSantis and Haley could recover, much less become the Nominee, much less the Presidency. It is not quite Trump's to lose, but it is a long way to November.
