Taking advantage of the conditions on the ground and the impasse in Congress over Ukraine funding, the Russian Army has forced Ukraine to withdraw from recently acquired territory. Ukrainian command leadership made the judgement to make a withdrawal to avoid a possible encirclement. In the New York civil trial against Donald Trump, where the Judge summarily fined the former President $350 million and revoked his New York operating license for the next three years, In the other Trump trial in Georgia, the persecution there could be un-raveling because of romantic escapades between the D.A. and her "friend."


As with any conflict, it is the mundane business of logistics rather than any flashy display of operational art. Ukraine had a pipeline to the West, specifically the U.S., and such support kept the Ukraine efforts viable. Now that assistance has become problematic, the effects are beginning to tell, starting with a lack of artillery ammunition. Going forward, it will take time to restore the level of support that was available for Ukraine previously. The ones who should have a bigger concern about the Ukraine is the NATO countries. Ukraine is their front yard and if there is any aid that can be sent East, it could be from the West, but not necessarily from Capitol Hill.


Several hundred million here. another several hundred million there, one could soon be taking real money, even from one as wealthy as Donald Trump. In a case where no crime was committed, no one was defrauded, no money was missing, why is Trump ordered to pay such a sum ? Why is his organization being banned from New York for three years ? Will this judgment stand under appeal ? If it gets over-turned. what would have been the point in the first place ? This is called a Civil Fraud trial but it appears the only fraud has been the judge in this case.


It is ironic, and not a little amusing, that the name of the Fulton County D.A. is named "Fanny." Fanny Willis. It has been her "quest," to prove that Donald Trump tried to interfere with the 2020 Georgia election results. Using a seldom used racketeering statute, which other legal opinion is discounting, Ms. Willis is in trouble now because of her paid use of a paramour, Mr. Wade, for which she was apparently not honest.


This is Campaign 2024. Russia making gains in Ukraine, and Trump is making gains against his legal challenges. In New York, the judgement is absurd on its face and the "Fanny Folies" in Atlanta could force a postponement, one that could last until after the election. If Trump's removal is supposed to be God's work, than certain allowances like the Willis' affair or the blanket judgement from New York could be justified. If Donald Trump is a deity in his own mind, it will be interesting to see what degree of Devine Intervention gets warranted.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
