What is a "Sanctuary City ? If one looked up the definition, it would be some municipal area where one illegal migrant can seek refuge from immigration enforcement assets. In reality, it has been a Democrat gimmick for Democrat-run cities with the expectation that in the fullness of time, as the Vice President might say, these would be reliable Democrat votes. Then the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once was released. As the millions of migrants have been bussed north to Denver, Chicago, and New York City, the carrying capacity of those locations have been stressed.


One who has recognized that reality is Big Apple Mayor, Eric Adams, who says the sanctuary policy needs to be re-considered. At the very least, criminal illegal aliens, the ones who commit crimes or assault police officers, should be deported. That being said, the New York's city council is some of the most extreme leftists that would still welcome all these migrants despite the effect they are having.


One other who has apparently had a "change of heart" would be Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell who will stepping down from his current Post this November. The Senior Senator from Kentucky has been in the Senate leadership longer than any of his predecessors. Not Robert Byrd (D-WV) or Bob Dole (R-KS). However, Senator McConnell has never been a fan of Donald Trump.


Changes are being made to the Republican Party, largely at Trump's instigation. Mitch McConnell is part of the "Old Guard," the ones who are supposed to know how the game is played. Admittedly, it was a brilliant McConnell maneuver that kept Judge Merritt Garland off the Supreme Court, hoping that Donald Trump might get elected. But, when it came to the election of Joe Biden, McConnell who had known the new President for years, was somewhat pleased to see such a colleague in the White House.


However, Donald Trump could be making his own comeback to the White House. His coat-tails could elect more Republican Senators, though the House is probably lost. Between Mayor Adams re-considering the degrees of sanctuary city policy to Senator McConnell charting a new path forward as a non-Republican Leader, people are beginning to see other options in looking to the future. Or, at least to November.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
