On February 19th, 1945, U.S. Marines landed on Japanese-held island of Iwo Jima. This was prove one of the bloodier battles of the Pacific War, the eventual Flag Raising on Mount Suribachi on the 23rd and Joe Rosenthal's photo became the most reproduced picture in History and generated a bond drive that allowed the financing till the end of the War.


February 19th is also President's Day, so named as recognition for February birthdays for President's Washington and Lincoln and all who have held the Office over the years. This is an Election Year but the campaign to date is being dominated by President Biden's deterioration and former President Trump's legal issues. One can begin with President Biden.


How many days has he, and Mr. Trump, the men who want to be President, now on President's Day, been the subject here ? There are always developments, however. Biden has become an over exposed film, the more he is seen, the worse he looks. It is the question of what to do next ? Replacing Biden is the minefield people expect it to be and it will be high drama worthy of William Shakespeare. It will be interesting to see how round head Kamala Harris will be fit into square hole President.


The Bard could also say something about Donald Trump who's concern is financial more than anything else. The former President has been assessed with $355 million dollars over a non-fraud fraud trial. Trump and his Organization could be banned from New York for three years. Which is being appealed.


On today of all days. Almost six thousand Marines perished on that isolated piece of volcanic rock before it was finally secured by the end of March. Japanese casualties numbered almost nineteen thousand. These political struggles are getting as intense as combat on that Island. History says who secured Iwo Jima. Who will secure the Presidency ?

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
