In ignoring the Biden Administration, Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu has said that the final assault on Hamas stronghold in Rafah has been scheduled. The White House has said that such an action will have consequences. What form such measures might take remains to be seen but it could include a cessation of American martial support. That could mean no more "Iron Dome" munitions as well as other means. These actions are seen as a shoring up what are seen as political vulnerabilities among Muslim enclaves in Michigan and Minnesota. However, how many Jewish voters will be abandoning President Biden because of his apparent abandonment of Israel ?


The Jewish Vote has been critical to the Democrat Party for decades. The late Senator Joe Liberman, the 2000 running mate to then Nominee Al Gore, the highest posting for any Jewish politician. Over time, as Democrat policies grew more extreme, Liberman left the Party and declared himself an Independent. If Biden is worried about Muslims in Dearborn, what about Jews in Flatbush ?


One can sense that within the ranks of the Democrat Party, there is a degree of antisemitism within the Ranks. Beyond the Party apparatus, many Democrat institutions, like the State Department or the Pentagon, also have an antisemitic streak. So, when Hamas made its attack on Israel six months ago, there were undoubtedly elements that would secretly have preferred that the Jewish State succumb or be significantly damaged.


Democrats cannot have things both ways. They can't elevate Muslim interests at the expense of Jewish and expect their continued support. That being said, Israel does have friends. Support for the country and its war effort is a Plank in the Republican platform. For his part, Donald Trump has also stated his support but he has been encouraging Netanyahu to complete the mission as rapidly as possible.


To conclude, the evident antisemitism that is pervaded society and has produced demonstrations to that effect. Parroting the best anti-American venom of the type one sees in Tehran, "Death to America" was a chant from one of those Michigan gatherings. A First Amendment protection. However, one would not necessarily be surprised if someone else appears to promote the Second.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
