Every day, there always seems to be something regarding President Biden and not necessarily in a good way. He continues to receive criticism over his budget, his war on fossil fuels, the failures at the border and the economy. In the recent summit with the Japanese Prime Minister to strengthen relations as a counter-balance to China, Biden had to use cue cards and limit the exchange to what his handlers thought he could handle.


These are problems for the President. A main one for his competitor, Donald Trump, is announcing the formation of his Cabinet, which would include his choice for Vice President. That list is such that Vegas odds are placing bets as to whom Trump might choose. If one were to guess as who might run the inside track.  A few names do come to mind. One would be Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina, or Governors Sarah Sanders of Arkansas or Kristy Noem of South Dakota.


As one African American and two women, Trump could be seen as "checking his own boxes" in an attempt to attract a more varied voter role. Or, Trump could pick Texas Governor, Greg Abbot, who does happen to be paralyzed. That being said, the one selected will have to be Trump on the campaign trail with his same eloquence and passion, with which the former President can deliver a speech.


However, the one quality that must be present in any VEEP pick would be the ability to assume the role of President if Trump becomes incapacitated. He or she will also be, by definition, the GOP front-runner in 2028. In the here and now, however, while Trump is in this courtroom or that, these surrogates would need to crisscross the country and give so-called MAGA rallies of their own.


In the meantime, President Biden will continue on. He will continue to alienate Israel by insisting on his continued interference in Israeli affairs. Not that would make a difference to Jerusalem. That is the cental issue that is fracturing the Democrat Party over which the President is presiding. In contrast to this chaos, if Donald Trump could present his choice for Vice President as well as his Nominees to State and Defense. At least after he treats more Chick-Fil-A's.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. May 5th as it happens is the anniversary of Mexico's victory over French "occupation" of Mexico by Emperor Maximillian, brother to Austrian monarch Maria Theresa in what has been called the Battle of Puebla. The reason France was in Mexico in the first place was that Mexico, after the Mexican-American War and a more civil conflict called the Reform War, had bankrupted Mexico City. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel. In California, the new $20/HR minimum wage is wreaking havoc on the fast food industry. And finally, after depleting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, oil has now become too expensive.
