(Unclear On The Concept)

There used to be a cartoonist named Joe Martin who had a strip he called Mr. Boffo. A recuring theme in the comic was people "unclear of the concept."  This was the idea that people can be so ignorant of some things but can be clear to everyone else. One can determine any instance where this might apply, but of there is any question as who might be unclear on the concept would be those that might still be thinking that the Trump trial is a legitimate exercise of American jurisprudence.


One realizes that this has been the topic here and elsewhere for the past few days. As has been reported, opening arguments are set to commence tomorrow. There will be witnesses and cross examinations, worthy of any episode of Law & Order. However, the result will be the same. Does anyone truly believe that any one of those jurors will be the one to not vote guilty ?


The affair is also having the effect of forcing the Trump campaign to expend resources, $4 million so far, while President Biden is able to extend his, and his Party's funding lead. It is also being demonstrated that while Donald Trump is otherwise occupied, Joe Biden is able to be out campaigning, re-gaining some position in polling.


There are things the former President can do to not make seem he is stuck in inertia. That his efforts are not dying by a thousand cuts. He needs to pick a running mate, who could go out and broadcast his message. It has also been suggested by some that Trump name a Cabinet. Until those steps are accomplished, he will be by himself (with a beleaguered legal team).


But the end result will not change. It can't. The law that the former President broke has less to do with hush money and more to the fact he is attempting to replace the regime in power. That is not just President Biden or Democrats in Congress but the entire administration state, the "swamp," as Trump puts it. If there is any feeling that this could be any different, that there is any other way this could go, is unclear on the concept.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
