Sentencing Guidelines

(Sentencing Guidelines)

Whenever there is a coach that has to lead a squad in some sporting event, he tells his players that when they go out there, they go out as a team. This morning in that Courthouse where the Trump Hush Money trial is underway, Judge Juan Merchan, and the twelve seated jurors need to know they are a team. That their work is important, if not inspired. They will have collectively convicted a former President of the United States.

There will be no hung jury, There will be no acquittal. There cannot be. The only question to be answered is how many of the thirty-four counts will Trump be found guilty ? As there is really nothing to lose, why not convict on all thirty four ? There is going to be examination of those jurors as well as the Judge to see if they delivered the desires outcome. No one on the Prosecution, including the jury, will dare oppose what is obviously the "will of the people." Depending on how many violations on which Trump gets convicted, that will determine the amount of time in prison the former President will serve.

There would be no alternative to that either. As there was no alternative to putting Trump on trial in the first place, there is also no alternative to not putting Trump in jail and incarcerated to a term that would reflect the guilty verdict on all counts. When this trial is completed, there follows the Sentencing Phase where guidelines for how much time behind bars for Trump to be determined.

When that outcome is announced, President Biden will be making his own remarks from the White House. He will then be standing on a "field of victory" and congratulating the team that made this feat of jurisprudence a reality. The process to this begins today when the Defense, and then the Prosecution make closing arguments. The jury, after receiving "instructions," will go and deliberate. That should not take long. The decision has already been made.
