It was McDonald's for lunch. It was a medium Big Mac combo and a Quarter Ponder with cheese (no pickles) for a dollar extra. The whole tab was seven dollars.  Admittedly, there is no minimum wage law to be observed or supply shortages. McDonald's, like Arby's Burger King, Pizza Hut, Sonic, Whataburger, or Wendys and so on, do not have the pricing pressures that are seen in other parts of the country. For so many, fast food, that in-expensive alternative to feeding the kids that, while not necessarily wholesome, at least could hold them over until dinner. As this is important to so many families, moving this option out of reach because of some politician and a labor initiative that allows the counter personnel to gain a living wage, that is beyond their own requirements. What it does is cut into the operating costs of the proprietor. Altogether, a sign of distress.

A recognized signal for distress is an "upside down" American Flag. In 2020, this sign of distress was used by the Trump campaign to show how wrong the Election Results could have been. Most have moved on, however, including Donald Trump. Now, Supreme Court Justice, Samual Alito, has two standards flying as a symbol of distress. One was flown at his residence after the events of January 6th.

This time, however, the Banner in question was posted by Alito's wife in response to her neighbor. That being said, the media and Democrats are having a fit, insisting that Alito recuse himself, particularly now that the Presidential Immunity is being considered. At this stage, however, was the Associate Justice wrong ? The Supreme Court is under assault these days. The legitimacy of the Court itself is being questioned.

That is not surprising. There is a conscious effort to re-make to transform the Court, adding new members that would give the Bench a permanent Liberal Majority, If the Democrats are still in charge of the Senate, look for this so-called "court packing" to accompany DC and Puerto Rico Statehood with two Democrat Senators each. Also, one can dismiss the legislative filibuster.

It is expected that the Trump verdict will be announced, one way another, this week. As this case stems from Trump's dealings in New York, before he was President, immunity would not necessarily apply. It what has been accused of as President that is the issue. If Alito can be forced off because of the Flag controversy ? He won't but this whole episode is an indication how people are feeling. If the Court accepts the Trump argument, that he does have immunity, what might that do to the Bragg case ?
