The rally that former President Trump held in the South Bronx, some 25,000, out of a permitted, 3,500, and spoke for just short of 90 minutes. It has been noted that the attendees largely represented the Bronx ethnic composition, African and Hispanic Americans. All seemed to be enthusiastic about Trump's speech and were active in changing voter registration to Republican, after generations as Democrats. If the former President thinks he has any chance in Hell of winning any part of New York, he had evidence in the South Bronx the other evening.


Assuming that Trump survives the next week, and does not find himself in an orange jumpsuit following his orange hair into Rikers, the idea that the Empire State could actually be in play is a seismic shift in American politics. This is taking place as President Biden is continuing to show signs of his detioration. In a summit with the Kenyan President, it was clear that Biden had lost situational awareness.


In any event, Trump has said that he is close to choosing a running-mate. The usual suspects, like Doug Burgham, Marco Rubio, J.D. Vance and so on. One name that is also being offered is the name of former Democratic Congresswoman, a Democratic Presidential Candidate in her own right, who has since left the Party, and has become a Fox News contributor, Tulsy Gabbard. It is being suggested by some that she be Trump's choice for Vice President.


Wow ! If Trump asked, and she said yes, and Trump/Gabbard signs begin to be printed, how will people, especially Republicans, react ? Will Gabbard fully embrace the Trump agenda ? Americas First and last ? Will she be good on the stump ? Will she be able to draw the same size crowd Trump gathered in New York ? Tulsy Gabbard on the ticket would assure women voters, those suburban moms that have become an important block of voters. Gabbard could speak to them, dull some of Trump's edges.


Gabbard will probably need to become a full-fledged Republican. She will need a MAGA hat. And, in four years, will she stand as the GOP Standard bearer in 2028, assuming Trump does not try to be the next FDR and leaves Office, willingly this time. In any event, a Tulsy Gabbard choice for Vice President will have the same seismic effect as Trump winning New York State.

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome.
