(Understatement)

On May 6th, 1945, representatives of the Third Reich arrived at General Eisenhower's Supreme Headquarters in Reims and offered Germany's surrender. The action ended hostilities in the European Theater of Operations. After close to six years of War, the guns fell silent. All the staff officers at SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force) thought that the Victory communiqué should say something "profound." Ideas were bandied back and forth until the Supreme Commander himself settled the matter:

"The mission of this Expeditionary Force was accomplished at oh-two-forty-three hours." May 7th, 1945.


With the same lack of emotion with which General Eisenhower announced the end of the War in Europe, there is a similar lack of recognition of the consequences if Donald Trump is actually incarcerated. A Presidential Candidate and presumptive Nominee of the Republican Party has been on trial for the last number of days and has been under a gag order, that Trump regularly violates and has been fined as a result. So, as far as Judge Juan Merchan has said incarnation is an option.


Anticipated witness, "Stormy" Danials took the stand today. She was supposed to give details on her relationship with Trump that has spanned many years. Her testimony and that expected from former Trump fixer Michael Cohen. At this point, however, whatever is said on the witness stand will be of less importance than the image of Donald Trump going to jail.


Riker's Island has said it is prepared to receive the former President. Sending Trump into Gen Pop with his Secret Service Detail. Who would be "top dog" in the Yard when that happens ? And, one can endlessly say that these events are un-precented, that this is the first time in American History that this has taken place.


That being said, things that are happening to Trump are happening because they had to. Everything is taking place is by design, the various jurisdictions, the hostile environments, the charges, the indictments, are all meant to hobble Trump because he cannot be engaged in any other way. He could more easily win. otherwise. That is probably an understatement.

TEQUILA !

(TEQUILA !) Happy Cinco de Mayo or May 5th. One can hope that a lot of you out there are awash in inebriation, seeking to mainline tequila shots or enjoying a nice margarita on the patio. Or, in other words, relax. Take a breath. De-compress. Intended Consequences

(Intended Consequences) For those Readers who live in the Tri-State area, who had the earthquake this morning, just be still.  There is a postulate called the Law of Un-Intended Consequences. Basically, it says that even with the best intentions, negative results sometimes happen. However, there are also instances when a negative result is precisely the desired outcome. Like with the Israel- Hamas war where the Biden Administration continues to press for an all but unilateral ceasefire on the part of Israel. In California, the new $20/HR minimum wage is wreaking havoc on the fast food industry. And finally, after depleting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, oil has now become too expensive. How many times must the Biden Administration think it can influence Israeli affairs ? How many times must Israel ignore it.
