Wealth Re-Distribuiton

(Wealth Re-Distribution)

The jury on the Trump hush money case has been deliberating for two days now and have yet to acclimate themselves to the "jury instruction" of convict Donald Trump. Speaking of Robert De Niro, when he was Al Capone in Brian De Palma's The Untouchables, Capone was making a speech to a dinner, holding a baseball bat. He talks about how when one is at bat, that is a time for individual achievement. But, when one heads to the outfield, he becomes part of a team. And, "Capone" goes on, "he gets nothing unless the team wins" At that, Di Niro takes the bat and opens up the skull of the poor guy that was running the liquor dispensary that was raided by Kevin Costner and Sean Connery. The point being is this: the Trump jury is a team, as Al Capone said it was. Not the time for individual effort, that a hung jury or even an acquittal would suggest. Any jury member that votes to not convict could get the equivalent of a baseball bat opening one's own skull.

In any event, the chips will fall where they may and be aware of the consequences. One consequence is that even with the former President in court, he is tied with President Biden in both Minnesota and Virginia, states that Biden won handily almost four years ago. The President is announcing some brand-new spending on his climate agenda, another trillion+ dollars' worth. However, with polls in the Land of a Thousand lakes and in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Democrat Campaign Committee will need to funnel re-sources back to those previously reliable Democrat strongholds.

This is wealth re-distribution. As Donald Trump is expanding the electoral map, it will be beyond just those two states but perhaps in other areas like New York, to shore up even to a small degree will tax Party resources. For his part, Trump fundraising has been exceeding that of the President. Any conclusions to be drawn here reflect only that if Trump is not convicted, and he is able to return to the Trail, he will be taking advantage in an address in the likes of Minneapolis and Richmond.

All is not necessarily doom and gloom for Democrats. It is likely they will flip the House back to Democrat control and that means no permanent Trump era tax cut extension. So, even from the outset, any new Trump Administration would be hobbled by a divided government. Then in the prospective 2026 Mid-Terms, Democrats will take the Senate and, once again, Democrats will have control of Capitol Hill. And there will be the next opportunity to impeach Donald Trump.

Donald Trump is unique in American politics. He will be remembered as the only President to be tried, the only one to be convicted, and the only one to be impeached three times. Charmed life.
