There have been iconic photographs throughout history. One would be the Joe Rosenthal picture of the Marines raising Old Glory over Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. Another would perhaps be the first responders raising another American Flag over World Traded Center rubble after the collapse of the Twin Towers. Joining that pantheon could be a new entry of former President Trump, after he was shot, as he was bleeding from his ear, with another Flag flying behind him, giving the crowd a raised fist and telling the gathered throng to continue to fight.


Trump has led a charmed life. It goes without saying that the attempted assassination is the most significant but a bonus, the classified documents case out of Florida has been dismissed. The Judge in the case, Aileen Cannon has stated that Special Counsel Jack Smith was pigeon-holed into the investigation by Attorney General Merrit Garland. It is Cannon's assertion that Smith was not appointed consistent with the Appointment Cause of the Constitution. Charmed life indeed. With the Cannon dismissal, remaining case against Trump will not be adjudicated before the Election.


Speaking of the Election, sometime today, the former President will be calling whomever he has selected as his running mate. Trump's VEEP selection was discussed in some detail the other day. before Saturday and went into what might be Trump's considerations for the various candidates. When Winston Churchill was elevated to Prime Minister from First Lord of the Admiralty by King George VI, a message was dispatched from Buckingham Palace. As for all those on Trump's short list, are they waiting on the Phone ? Or will Trump text on Truth Social.


In the fullness of time, a favorite expression of Vice President Harris. what happened over the weekend will have to be examined. A lot of people are talking of miracles or provincially favored. It was a potential catastrophe that was averted. It was said the consequences of if that round hit. But, otherwise, today is a good day. A legal case is thrown out and by this evening, Trump will have his running mate.

Keeping The Faith ?

(Keeping The Faith ?) Happy Memorial Day ! This is the day when the nation pauses and recognizes the contributions of the men and women that strove, and often times perished in the defense of this country. How many campaigns and battles have been seen over the years with Americans in harms way. Theirs was not a pursuit of glory, necessarily but they are remembered as such. As an example, take the Joe Rosenthal photo of the "Iwo Jima Flag-raising," February 23rd, 1945. Most people know what that is and not a few have a copy on their wall. Three of those Marines survived Iwo Jima and went on a bond tour to promote that picture. The U.S. was able to fund the rest of the War off of that drive but the Marines in question did not fare well. Private Ira Hayes, the last casualty of the Volcano Island died of exposure some years later. Siege Of The Alamo

(Siege Of The Alamo) Any visitor to Downtown San Antonio will recognize the City's most famous landmark, the Alamo. An old Spanish mission that means "Cottonwood" in English was the site where the likes of Jim Bowie, William Barrett Travis and Davy Crockett and about another 185 Texians defended the Mission and its compound for thirteen days against the Army of General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana and his 5,000 troops. The garrison was finally reduced on March 6, 1836. However, the Texian defeat at the Alamo and another one at Goliad, bought time for General Sam Houston time to fall back and then face Santa Ana at San Jacinto. There, Houston's army surprised the Mexicans and yelling "Remember the Alamo, Remember Goliad !" all but wiped out the Mexican force.
