A Shot In The Dark ?
(A Shot In The Dark ?)
Blake Edwards was a prolific Hollywood director. With films such as Operation Petticoat or SOB, Edwards was known in Tinseltown as a pre-eminent comedic genius, second only to perhaps Mel Brooks. However, it was the "Pink Panther" franchise with Edwards made his name. A flawed pink diamond from the country of Lugash (when the diamond his held to the light, a shape of a leaping pink panther can be seen. Hence the name) Some, like the original film with Peter Sellers, David Niven, Robert Wagner, and Claudia Cardinelle was funny. Some later Pink Panther movies, some good some mediocre, and, when Sellers passed, Edwards had footage shot and, in the can, so, he placed someone in bandages and revealed Roger Moore as the one with the plastic surgery and he had adopted Inspector Clouseau mannerisms.
One of the more mediocre Pink Panther films was A Shot in the Dark. The second movie released in 1964. There was a nudist camp and four scheming people who committed murders for their own ends but were blown up when they had gotten in Clouseau's car that had been rigged by the Inspector's longtime nemesis, Chief Inspector Dreyfus.
So, did former President Trump get shot ? The incident in Butler from almost two weeks ago made a Trump a sympathetic figure, But now that Kamala Harris is assuming her mantle as Democrat Nominee. Changes to her story are also being effected. Like the Vice President never being named Border Tsar, such a statement is contradicted by known facts namely that President Biden said as much at the opening of the Administration. That being said, however, Harris' actions on the border, or rather her inaction, was early defined as desired policy.
Regardless of her disposition, it is an open question as to Kamala Harris as border Tsar. What is not an open question is the disposition of Donald Trump. The former President was shot by a 5.56 calibre round that grazed his right ear. It was not glass. It was not some other piece of a teleprompter. But FBI Director Wray has been offering these alternatives because it is politically inconvenient for the Vice President.
It is clear that some Pink Panther films should not have been made. A Shot in the Dark might be one of them. There was no point after Peter Sellers' death and the contortions that were needed to complete the "film," Donald Trump was not shot in the dark but in broad daylight. But he was shot.
